Bridgewater Finds A New Measure Of Success

Bridgewater Town Council is finding new ways to hold themselves accountable.

At their meeting earlier this week, they voted to be part of a project called the Awesome Index.

It’s a system that helps evaluate how well Bridgewater is sticking to commitments by measuring a number for factors.

Those can include tasks such as access to public transit, new construction and actively living initiatives.

Mayor David Mitchell says the public documents will be looked at continually.

“This Awesome Bridgewater Index will say, well, here were the ten goals we wanted to achieve and according to this index, we haven’t achieved any of them. Or we’ve achieved all of them and we need to move faster or we need to move slower.”

Mitchell says this is an all new approach to managing the town.

“All of this put together helps us as an organization make sure we’re putting money where we should be putting money, change our course of action if we’re not reaching these targets, but also allows us to promote the town.”

Mitchell says the index provides council with an accurate way to measure their success.

He anticipates they will have the project up and running relatively soon.
