Bridgewater Relay For Life Raises Nearly $30,000

Organizers of Bridgewater’s Relay for Life event are grinning from ear to ear.

The six-hour event on Friday night at the South Shore Exhibition Grounds has raised $29,585 so far with donations still being collected.

Chairperson Jillian Thorburne says their goal is to raise $30,000.

She says the results warm her heart.

“We took about eight months of planning for this relay so lots of work went into it and helped make it such a great success.”

Money will go towards cancer research and support for patients and their families.

A similar event to Relay for Life called YOLO-You Only Live Once will be held Friday in Lockeport at Seacap Park.

It will raise funds for cancer research.

Chester will also host Relay for Life on June 16 beginning at 7 p.m. at Chester Area Middle School.
