Great Lobsterman Challenge Returns To Barrington

Lobster fishermen and women will put their skills to the test.

The Great Lobsterman Challenge is scheduled for this Friday night in Barrington.

Twelve people will go head-to-head in tasks including lobster banding, rope coiling and splicing and baiting a trap.

The participants will also have to get dressed in full gear including a personal floatation device.

One of the organizers, Suzy Atwood, says it’s better to be prepared.

“Lobster fishing is one of the most dangerous occupations there are and we lose too many fishermen to the sea.”

The challenge gets underway at 7 p.m Friday at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena.

A grand prize of $500 will be awarded along with a $500 gift certificate.
