Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says the opposition’s attacks are hurting the ferry.

The new Yarmouth Ferry has yet to sail and already government and opposition parties are pointing fingers.

Yarmouth MLA Zach Churchill says the opposition’s attacks are hurting business.

“Jamie Baillie and his constant negativity and attacking of this critical transportation link is now impacting the market, it’s impacting sales.”

Churchill says he’s hearing from Bay Ferries that tour bus business is being affected south of the border.

He says the operators are concerned the ferry service may be discontinued if the PCs were to come into power.

Meanwhile, Jamie Baillie responds that he never said he would cancel the ferry service.

“Well that’s ridiculous of course. The premier signed a hundred million dollar deal that deserves to be held up to public scrutiny and debate. That’s healthy.”

He goes on to say Churchill would be better off spending his time defending the massive expenditure than attacking the opposition.

Baillie says should he become premier, he would have another look at the Bay Ferries contract in order to get the best possible deal for Nova Scotians.

The Cat ferry starts it’s run on June 15th.
