PC Leader Disappointed With 2015 From McNeil Government

Nova Scotia’s PC Leader says 2015 was a tough year for the province.

Jamie Baillie says it included cuts to government services, job losses, and a bigger provincial deficit at $241.2-million

He feels the Liberal government has no plan in place to turn the economy around.

“If you have a government that is only about cutting things and at the end of the year the deficit actually gets worse, than you know that what we need is a little vision about how to actually grow Nova Scotia and not just cut.”

He adds, the province needs to start implementing recommendations from the Ivany Report to kick-start the economy.

Baillie says Liberal cuts to the film tax credit were felt by many.

“That meant lost opportunities in places like Chester or Hubbards. They spent $40-million on the Yarmouth ferry and I just want them to be up front with Nova Scotians that it hasn’t worked.”

Baillie says there are also emergency room closures and unhappy public servants with a McNeil government.

Baillie says he was disappointed with the ‘scandal’ involving the premier’s former chief of staff and Independent MLA Andrew Younger.

He adds, Stephen McNeil needs to be held accountable for the actions of his staff and government.
