The Charlies Pizza South Shore Mustangs opened the major midget early bird tournament in Bridgewater with a 5-2 win over Valley.
Also, it was Dartmouth over Halifax 3-0.
The tournament continues today with four games at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre, beginning at noon.
The Mustangs are back on the ice at 4 p.m against Halifax.
