CRA Scam Still Causing Trouble

It’s the scam that will not die.

RCMP in Lunenburg County say several people in the area have fallen victim to a common phone scam.

Someone receives a call from the Canada Revenue Agency saying they need to send money or they’ll be charged.

Corporal Ted Mugford says some in Lunenburg County have lost thousands of dollars.

“Simply put it’s a scam,” he says. “What we’re asking people to do is just ignore the call. They can certainly call us and let us know, but please, don’t send these people any money.”

Mugford says seniors seem to be particularly vulnerable to this type of scheme.

He says the caller can be aggressive, but if you receive the call just hang up.
