Four Year-Old Queens Girl Gets Wish Granted

It’s a wish come true for a four year-old Queens County girl.

Destiny Roy has cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Her day typically consists of multiple seizures, naps and visits to the IWK in Halifax or attending speech therapy or physio in Liverpool and Bridgewater.

The Nova Scotia chapter of the Children’s Wish Foundation provided Destiny with a new hippocampe wheelchair.

Her mother, Lacey, says it will open new doors for her daughter.

“She’s finally going to be able to get to the beach, play in the snow and go more places than with the basic wheelchair.”

Destiny suffered a stroke when her mother was 22 weeks pregnant. She also has vision problems, scoliosis and one kidney is horseshoe shaped.

Lacey says the new wheelchair is an exciting change and will add to Destiny’s quality of life.

The Roy’s also received a new wheelchair accessible van from PC Children’s Charity to help Lacey take Destiny to visit family in Amherst and Clark’s Harbour.

Lacey is hoping her daughter will start school in 2018 at Dr. J.C. Wickwire Academy in Liverpool.
