Mahone Bay Farm Gets Cheesy

The idea of a micro-brew is already pretty popular in Nova Scotia, but how about a micro-creamery.

Heather Squires, who runs Sweetwood Farm in Mahone Bay has been teaching others how to make cheese for some time.

Now, she’s opening up shop to become the place to go for fresh local goats cheese.

“We are licensed both to produced goat milk and process it into products, so, our processing license is really around cheese, though we are expanding into liquid milk.”

Squires says the whole process is done by hand starting with milking the goats.

She says she’ll be opening up a patio on Sunday afternoons where people can sample the product and see the animals who helped produce it.
