Electricity often isn’t something people think about until it goes out.
Matt Drover, Director of Regional Operations with Nova Scotia Power says it’s a year round job to make sure that happens as little as possible.
He says summer is when they can start getting a big chunk of the preventative work completed.
“So we really focus on vegetation management during the summer. We do vegetation management all year but the best time to do it is when the leaves are fully on the trees and we can get the most bang for our buck.”
Drover says they have about 20,000 kms of line to maintain every year.
He says with hurricane season right around the corner time is limited to get the work done.
