DNR Urges Safety Before Starting A Fire

The mild temperatures so far this fall are concerning the Department of Natural Resources.

Fire Prevention Officer Kara McCurdy says the threat of forest fires is real.

Conditions in the province are considered severely dry – where a fire could spread 10 to 15 metres per minute.

It is illegal to burn brush or have campfires between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Tips on ways to prevent wildfires and practice fire safety can be found here.
