Province Seeks Medal Of Bravery Nominations

If they’ve put themselves at risk to help others, nominate them.

Residents across the province are encouraged to nominate people who have put themselves at risk to help others.

The winners will attend a formal ceremony where they will get a medal in the form of a medallion, a lapel pin and a citation, presented to them by the Premier of Nova Scotia.

Each symbol on the medal has a special meaning:

The medal bears silver to symbolize peace and sincerity, the lion rampant which symbolizes dauntless courage, the weaving banner symbolizes the sea and celebration, the laurel leaves symbolize peace and triumph and the blue velour of the award presentation case symbolizes truth and loyalty.

Acts of bravery that happened on or after Jan. 1st 2015 are eligible for nomination.

Nomination forms are available at Access Nova Scotia centre, from local MLAs and online.

Completed nomination forms should be sent to: Provincial Secretary, Medal of Bravery, Department of Justice, 7th floor, 1690 Hollis St., Halifax, N.S., B3J 2L6.
