Park View Panthers Rally For Coach’s Brother With ALS

It’s a fight they’ll allow in hockey.

The Park View Panthers Hockey team is donating all proceeds from the gate this Saturday night to a good cause.

They’re helping Owen Thomas with his fight against ALS.

It’s a cause close to their heart because it’s the brother of their coach Ethan Thomas.

Ethan says it means a lot knowing he has this support system.

“There’s the two coaches and a manager, 20 hockey players on the team and their families, the schools and the community that will support you,” he says.

“And it’s just nice to have that backing behind you when things get tough. It makes things a little easier when you know people care.”

Ethan has been a coach with the Men’s Panthers for six years, and the team wanted to show their support.

He says ALS is one of the diseases that only gets worse.

“It’s tough seeing a guy who was so full of life a couple of years ago, and very active, to be being confined to his house,” he says.

“And his mobility is really limited. So, it’s tough.”

Puck drop is 7 p.m., Saturday night at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
