Queens: Councillor Chooses Not To Submit Expense Claims

A municipal councillor says he’s trying to do his part to serve the community.

The Region of Queens released a list of expense claims since 2012.

Most of the seven councillors submitted annual claims – some as low as $17 and others as high as just over $2,700.

But not Bruce Inglis.

He has not submitted a claim since becoming a councillor in 2008.

“I love the community and it was a way that I felt I could give back without any pain out of my pocketbook.”

Inglis lives in Liverpool and doesn’t have as far to travel as other councillors for meetings.

“Years ago, sometimes, I used to walk, so mine would not have been tremendous anyway and I went on council because I wanted to help the community and something I thought off that I could quietly leave a few more dollars in the coffers.”

He says council as a whole has modest expenses and very good attendance.

The expense claims for the last four years is listed below.
