Walking 150 for Canada 150

A lifelong Lunenburg County resident is walking his way to 150 kilometres.

Martin Bell and his wife have recently started the adventure on various trails.

The Conquerall Bank couple have spent time on the Centennial Trail and Adventure Trail so far.

Bell says he hasn’t spent much time on the trails despite knowing about them for quite some time.

“I can’t ever say I was a participant of either walking or driving them. So, I said to my wife this year let’s just do something each evening that we can do at our own pace.”

The couple has reached 28 kilometres of their 150 kilometre goal as part of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

Bell says walking has been great and will give him a chance to see different parts of the county.

“It doesn’t cost anything to walk or cycle on the trail. If people just realized the good feeling you can get out of walking through nature, more people would do it.”

The now retired 60 year-old hopes to become more active with time to spare.
