A decision to halt the Hit it for Health golf tournament in support of the Health Services Foundation is being reconsidered.
The tournament, which helps purchase necessary equipment for hospitals in Lunenburg and Bridgewater, has raised $515,000 in 19 years.
An operational review evaluated the golf tournament and recommended the foundation move on from the event.
Development Oficer, Alison Clements, says Wednesday’s event surpassed the fundraising goal and they will be back for a 20th year.
“We have to watch our bottom line and how many staff hours are going into an event and really make it worth our while, but this has been such a success why not give it its 20th anniversary and we’ll see how it goes from there.”
The final total was $20,311 and will purchase a new mammography reporting system and support the diagnostic imaging department at South Shore Regional Hospital.
