Nova Scotians To Rally Against Sitting Liberal Government

Protestors will descend on Province House tomorrow.

A rally called Nova Scotians Rise Up is scheduled to take place against the sitting Liberal Government.

Protestors believe they are being undermined and ignored on issues affecting their families, livelihoods, communities and environment.

Stacey Rudderham is involved in several groups attending the rally, including Peace and Friendship Alliance of Nova Scotia, and Nova Scotia Parents and Teachers.

She says all the groups across the province who are coming to the protest decided to unite their voices.

“To make sure that all of us are heard, [and] to show the government that we are all tired of not being taken into consideration when decisions are being made,” she says.

“Whether they’re related to the environment, to health care, to education.”

Protestors believe they are being undermined and ignored on issues affecting their families, livelihoods, communities and environment.

Rudderham says this is a time for Nova Scotians to have their say, not a time for politicians to speak.

“They can come out and talk to us on a street level, and listen to what we have to say, but we’re not letting them talk to us,” she says.

“Because we’ve been listening to them for a long time, but they’re not listening to us.”

Speakers from across the province will be covering topics from health care and education, to poverty and worker’s rights.

All residents are invited to attend.

The protest is scheduled to be held from noon until 5 P.M outside the Legislature in Halifax.
