Queens District RCMP Reminding Residents Not To Litter

It’s illegal to litter.

The Queens District RCMP is reminding residents it’s an offence to litter in Nova Scotia.

They’re continuing their efforts with the Region of Queens Municipality to keep county roads clean and litter free.

Last week, Queens R.C.M.P. fined a local, 66 year old man $410.00 for Littering from A Vehicle on the Highway, after he threw out pull tab lotto tickets from his car, rather than in the trash.

Pull tab tickets and fast food waste are the most common forms of roadside litter in the county. Police and the Region have tried to raise the issue over the last year and persuade motorists to hold to dispose of their garbage properly.

Highway checkpoints have been generated in recent months where disposal information and even small, vehicle garbage bags were handed out to motorists.

The Region of Queens provides informatin for proper waste disposal.
