2009-04-15 06:10:44

The Town of Lunenburg is getting a new Primary to Grade 9 school. The location, yet to be determined will replace the Lunenburg Academy, the town’s junior high school, Centre Consolidated and Riverport and District Elementary. Mayor Laurence Mawhinney says the Academy, almost a sacred property in the Town will operate in some capacity or other. Mawhinney says the Academy is too valuable a property to lose. Mayor Mawhinney says the Lunenburg Academy Foundation was formed in 1981 with the intent that when the Academy was no longer required as a school it could be used for other purposes.
