Nova Scotia’s Justice Minister says the delay in legalizing cannabis won’t impact the province’s plans.
The Senate decided earlier this month to delay the bill to allow more time to study the implications.
Mark Furey says legislation will be introduced in this sitting of the house that will lay out how cannabis will be sold in Nova Scotia.
Furey acknowledges the delay will affect when Nova Scotians will see pot available on the shelves.
“Until such time as it is federally legal, the province or the supplier – in these circumstances, the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation will not be able to source their product.”
The Attorney General says the province will be ready whenever the federal government gives the go ahead to begin selling cannabis.
