Fundraiser Helps Cause For New Zamboni At Shelburne County Arena

The Shelburne County Arena is closer to getting a new Zamboni.

A fundraiser was held last Saturday featuring a game between local hockey legends at the arena.

Organizer Jennie Huskilson says just under $30,000 was raised.

“Thanks to all the people that stepped up and donated, the players that took part and everyone that came out to the arena. It’s amazing that we could do all of this in one night.”

Huskilson says she wants the arena to be around for years to come so that her son can enjoy it.

A replacement of the current 34 year old Zamboni is needed in time for next season.

More fundraisers are being planned over the warmer months, along with requests for government funding.

The total cost for a new Zamboni is $115,000.
