School Board To Decide On Review Later This Month

A decision will be made this month on whether to review nine schools in the South Shore.

The regional board discussed the process for Big Tancook Island Elementary as well as the Bridgewater and Park View family of schools.

A committee and facilitator would conduct a six-month review and come back to the board with options.

Superintendent Geoff Cainen says it gives communities more opportunity for input.

“They have to be able to see in their communities what the decisions would actually mean and they know that better than staff sitting here at the board office.”

Future enrolment, boundaries and school capacity will be considered.

A decision will be made by the school board on October 28.
