Craft Distillery Industry Enjoying Boom In Nova Scotia

You may be too busy enjoying craft beer or Nova Scotia wine to notice the craft distillery boom in Nova Scotia.

Since Ironworks Distillery opened in Lunenburg six years ago. the number of licensed distilleries operating in the province has grown.

There are now nine craft spirit producers in the province and all will be featured in Nova Scotia’s first craft spirits festival this weekend.

Festival coordinator, Marianne Downey says it’s an opportunity promote the industry.

Downey says this weekends goal is to create a community.

“The idea is to foster the industry’s growth and to open it up to the public. There aren’t many people who know that this is going on in our province and that the industry is doing so well right now,” said Downey.

Spirited Away In Lunenburg includes weekend workshops and tastings Saturday and Sunday.

Festival participants will get a chance to attend workshops, tastings and tours all weekend long.
