Region Of Queens Opens Budget Deliberation Meetings To Public

The Region of Queens Municipality is holding their budget deliberations publicly this year.

It’s the first time in recent history the meetings have been open to the public.

Mayor David Dagley says it was time.

“We did it because it really should be an open public issue, most municipal units do have their budget discussions in open council and we certainly felt it was appropriate as well.”

The meetings started last week.

Dagley says councillors discussed issues around services for taxpayers as well as attracting new business.

Those suggestions are being looked at by staff, who are also working out some of the other major items like the RCMP contract.

Dagley says council plans to holding further budget meetings in public before presenting the budget later this spring.
