People in Bridgewater will have to keep waiting to learn what the future holds for the former Memorial Arena.
The town has received one expression of interest, along with proposals from a group of Dalhousie design students, but aren’t ready to make a final decision.
Mayor David Walker says people haven’t been shy about sharing their opinions.
“Letters [have been] received from members of the public about possible uses,” he says. “A possible arts venue, and some type of ‘co-op housing.’”
Walker says they need to figure out if infrastructure like sewage can handle a big development in the area.
“Staff has been asked to do a report that would analyze the infrastructure in that area. What uses would not cause any problems? And what uses would need improvement for the infrastructure that’s there.”
Walker says they hope to get the report before fall.
But he says the final decision may not happen until after the election in Octobe
