Coast Guard Removing MV Farley Mowat From Shelburne on July 27

The date has been set to send the Farley Mowat packing from Shelburne.

The Canadian Coast Guard confirmed the removal of the MV Farley Mowat will take place on Thursday July 27, weather permitting.

The derelict vessel has been a headache for the town since it arrived in 2014.

Mayor Karen Mattatall says the timing is perfect before Tall Ships visit Shelburne on August 14 and 15.

“We certainly didn’t want to see that eyesore in our beautiful harbour when the Tall Ships arrive. We’re all waiting with bated breath for Thursday July 27.”

Mattatall hopes to see plenty of people near the wharf to give the Farley Mowat a proper send-off out of Shelburne.

More details about the ‘Farewell Farley’ party, including a time, will be released once it is finalized.
