Bridgewater Development Association Ceasing Operations

The Bridgewater Development Association will dissolve and cease operations as of August 31.

The town has decided to shift directions by taking an active role in economic development.

Mayor David Mitchell says economic and community development is a changing landscape.

“A lot of municipalities are returning economic development to an in-house service so that it’s more directly linked to staff and the direction council wishes to take it.”

Any assets that the BDA has will transfer to the town including lands on Glen Allan Drive and in the Bridgewater Business Park.

The development association has been involved in projects since 2000 including the Bridgewater Marina, King Street Court and Bridgewater and Area Family Health Centre.

Town council will be working with staff to create a new road map for future economic development.
