Shelburne To Host First ‘Death Cafe’ Tonight

An uncomfortable topic will be discussed tonight in Shelburne.

It’s the first ever ‘Death Cafe’ in that region, presented by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.

It will take place from 7-9pm at the Shelburne Cafe on Water Street.

The goal is to gather people in the community to discuss topics related to death and dying, and ask questions to professionals.

Joey Reynolds of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Barrington will be a guest speaker.

Reynolds says events like this are needed.

“I definitely think this is a needed service, and people are not aware of what happens. I do think this will help get the information out there.”

He says he will be presenting information on the services that the funeral home provides.

“That includes details that can be taken care of ahead of time, how important it is to have things on file and know a persons request before they pass. That makes it easier on the family.”

Other facilitators include palliative care specialists.

The event is free, but space is limited so register by calling 902-875-4508.
