Town Of Shelburne To Raise Pride Flag

The Town of Shelburne will take part in Pride Week for the third straight year.

Mayor Karen Mattatall says the pride flag in honour of the LGBTQ community will be raised at noon tomorrow at town hall.

She says the town is doing something else this year as well.

“This year, we thought it would be nice to add a pride sidewalk. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s at the top of King and Harriet Street.”

The sidewalk is painted in the colours of the pride flag.

Mattatall says it’s important to make sure people know Shelburne is a diverse and welcoming community.

The flag raising coincides with Pride Week celebrations in Halifax.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to march in the Pride Parade there on Saturday.
