Hundreds of people are expected to walk for loved ones Friday night in Bridgewater. This is the 12th year for Relay For Life, which helps raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. There are 27 teams involved in this year’s event, which takes place at the South Shore Exhibition Grounds. Leadership chair, Sarah Sweeny, says they’re hoping to raise $100,000.
“It’s going to be exciting to see if we’re going to hit it. We are down with numbers this year, so, team-wise we didn’t really get the goal we wanted to but we are still fighting to get that $100,000.”
The 12-hour fundraiser will feature a speech from a cancer survivor, along with several fun activities including a tug of war and scavenger hunt. Opening ceremonies start at 7pm. Relay for Life events are also planned for June 20 in Chester and Yarmouth.
