Six Bridgewater Teens Charged With Porn Offenses

Bridgewater police have filed charges against six youths for possessing and distributing child pornography.

The four fifteen-year-old boys and two eighteen-year-old men were charged after a thirteen month investigation.

Chief John Collyer says Bridgewater Police were assisted by RCMP and the FBI.

Intimate images of over twenty girls were allegedly shared without their consent and posted to Dropbox.

Collyer says this type of crime isn’t uncommon.

“There’s a lot of this kind of thing going on. Our youth live on their phones. They have their own world on their phones and on their computers.”

Collyer says intimate images of over twenty girls were allegedly posted to Dropbox without their consent.

He says it’s all our responsibilities to prevent this from happening.

“We as parents and the authorities… we have to ensure that we have conversations with our youth regarding the responsible use and the consequences of sharing pictures of that nature.”

The youth have been released and will appear in Bridgewater Youth Court on August 17th.
