This spring a park in Bridgewater will come alive with 1,400 tulips.
Forty-five volunteers took less than an hour planting the bulbs at Veteran’s Memorial Park on Friday.
Councillor Jennifer McDonald says it’s the people of Bridgewater that really made the event a success.
“It is people who build the community,” she says. “It not the politicians. It’s the people that bring one another together and make things happen and see a need in the community and respond to it.”
Seventy years ago Canada received a gift of tulips from the Dutch to thank us for our help during World War II.
McDonald says this garden will help to remind us of who we are as Canadians.
