Western Shore: No Criminal Intent In Attempted Child Abduction

There will be no criminal charges following a police investigation into an attempted child abduction.

RCMP say a 10 year-old girl was walking along Highway 3 Tuesday afternoon when an elderly couple pulled over and spoke to the girl.

She ran home and alerted her parents.

Constable Mark Skinner says the couple was found and police determined there was no criminal intent.

“They weren’t from the area and and they had heard the air raid siren that’s used when there is a fire in the local area. They stopped to make an inquiry into what the siren was used for and if they should be concerned.”

The incident happened in Western Shore when the fire department was responding to a two vehicle crash on Highway 103.
