Environment Canada Forecasting High Winds, Water Levels For Thursday

An approaching storm is causing Environment Canada to issue warnings to parts of the South Shore .

Winds will begin increasing this afternoon and overnight before gusting to 70 km/h on Thursday.

It will be felt in Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth counties.

Meteorologist Max Desharnais says there will also be large waves.

“By the middle of the morning, they should be about 2.5 metres and then keep building to four or six metres during the afternoon.”

It will be caused by the combination of a high tide and storm surge.

There is also roughly 25 millimetres of rain forecasted to fall on Thursday.
