Indian Path Chimney Fire Guts Entire House

A fire that started in the chimney of a home in Indian Path, Riverport area spread quickly.

Riverport Fire Chief Craig Cook says they got the call around one o’clock Thursday morning.

By the time they got the call the fire chief said the flames had already spread to the structure.

“We received a call around one a.m. for a call for a possible chimney fire in Indian Path. And on arrival at the scene, the upper level of the house was fully involved,” said Chief Cook.

Oakhill, LaHave, Blockhouse, Hebbville, Dayspring and Lunenburg fire departments were all dispatched to assist the Riverport Fire Department.

Cook says the family was outside the house when they arrived and nobody was hurt.

Only the shell remains of the approximately 5-year old house.
