Kate Benjamin spent the day with her father Kevin, the general manager at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
“He’s been answering the phone and emails for most of the morning,” said Kate.
“But what I really want to do is learn how he books musical acts. I think it would be really cool to do something like this because he gets to plan concerts and I’m really interested in stuff like that. So, it would be really cool to see how he does it.”
Kate had some ideas for her father about what musical artist he should bring to the LCLC.
“Well, I’m a really big Shawn Mendes fan.”
Benjamin hasn’t figured out what she’d like to do after high school. She said she loves music and used to be a singer, but her interest in sports left her little time to continue her music studies.
Her goal is to get on some varsity teams after high school, but beyond that she doesn’t have any idea what direction she’ll go in as far as a careeer goes–just yet.
Take Our Kids to Work is an annual program for Grade 9 students hosted by parents, friends, relatives and volunteers at workplaces across the country.
The idea is to help students connect school, the world of work and their own futures.
