RCMP Catch And Charge Chester Area Men Racing, Stunting In Fog

Two Chester area drivers have been charged with stunting after being clocked going 165 kilometres an hour in a 110 kilometre zone.

Halifax RCMP stopped the vehicles in the Lakeside area at around 1:50 a.m. Sunday morning.

The vehicles appeared to be racing as they sped past a police car conducting traffic enforcement.

Both a 25-year-old Chester man and a 23-year-old Chester Basin man were charged with stunting and fined nearly $2,500.

Their licenses were suspended immediately and their vehicles were seized.

The men will appear in Dartmouth Provincial court at a later date.

Corporal Dal Hutchinson says both vehicles were packed with passengers and given the foggy conditions that night, the outcome could have been very different.

RCMP are reminding the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions and if you see
someone driving unsafely you can report it by calling 911.
