New Head Coach for Halifax Mooseheads

The Halifax Mooseheads have hired a new Head Coach for the 2018-19 CHL Hockey Season.

The QMJHL organization announced today (Thursday, May 3rd, 2018) the appointment of Quebec City native, Eric Veilleux as the new Head Coach of the team.

Veilleux is currently the Head Coach of the San Antonio Rampage, the AHL affiliate of the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.

Cam Russell, General Manager for the Halifax Mooseheads Hockey organization, tells CKBW News Veilleux’s experience really speaks for itself.

“He put up good numbers plus he was a character player so he understands both sides of the game; he made it to the finals three times, he won the Memorial Cup and also was a head coach in the AHL for two years,” says Russell.

The decision to replace former head coach Jim Midgeley after just one season behind the bench was a tough decision that had to be made.

“We looked at this long and hard before we made the change and we know that it’s going to be such a big and important year that we needed a little more experience behind the bench,” adds Russell.

The Mooseheads are set to host the 2019 Memorial Cup next year in Halifax.
