This week, for the first time, Lunenburg Town Council live streamed their meeting to the web.
Councillor Tyler Hayden made use of the new live-streaming app in Facebook to broadcast the proceedings.
Hayden says he has seen others use the technology and thought it was a great way to make council more accessible to the people they serve.
“What a great way to encourage democracy, increase engagement for people of Lunenburg and people who care about Lunenburg.”
Hayden says people have busy lives and don’t always have time to follow council.
He says it’s exciting to be able to involve people no matter where they are.
“The reaction was great. People were so happy that we were trying it. Their only complaint was that the audio wasn’t great. So we’ll keep playing around with it and see what happens.”
Hayden says he plans to continue live streaming the council meetings.
