A two-storey home has been destroyed following a fire in New Germany.
It happened shortly after 9 a.m Monday along Highway 208.
Firefighters from New Germany, Hemford, Northfield and Cornwall were on scene for several hours.
Fire Chief Blair Lantz says no one was home at the time – but some pets may be lost.
“They had two dogs, which are accounted for and safe. They also had somewhere around six cats, I think two are accounted for and two or three are running around the neighborhood.”
A family of four were displaced by the blaze.
The Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause.
