Lunenburg Academy Renovations Over Budget And Behind Schedule

The Lunenburg Academy renovation project is over budget and behind schedule.

Scott Burke, consultant with the project told town council they need 20-thousand dollars now to fix windows.

Council voted in favour to spend the money while contractors are on site.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says it comes with the territory when taking care of the iconic Lunenburg landmark.

“The Academy is a huge, historical structure. It is constantly going to need attention maintenance wise,” said Bailey.

The windows are just the tip of the iceberg.

Burke read through a long list of items that still need to be replaced or repaired.

Currently the project is a month behind schedule and 3-thousand dollars over budget.
