Group Recognized For Highway Cleanup

A group in Lunenburg county is being recognized for their work cleaning up the roads.

The Oakland Indian Point Residence Association has been picking up everything from beer bottles to car doors as part of the Adopt-a-Highway campaign.

Chairperson, Kathy Damiani, says they’re happy to be recognized, but it was something that needed to be done.

“There has been, you know, people neglecting and throwing things out the window of their car,” she says. “We have an opportunity to clean up and take care of our community.”

Around 50 people have volunteered to help out.

Damiani says they plan to continue the work next year with a pick up scheduled for spring 2016.
