Lunenburg Electric Signs Service Deal With NS Power

The Town of Lunenburg has entered into a service agreement with Nova Scotia Power.

The utility will now be responsible for maintaining the town’s power infrastructure.

Mayor Rachel Bailey says the move gives the town the ability to better look after their residents needs.

“With the increasing frequency of power disruptions and so on, with weather events that we’ve had of late. That is a great source of comfort for us.”

Bailey says customers won’t see any difference in how electrical service is administered.

“They’ll still get their bills monthly, they still deal with the people they would have dealt with here at Town Hall. As far as their bills are concerned, the rates will not be impacted by this arrangement.”

Two employees will be impacted when Nova Scotia Power takes over the service contract.

The five-year service agreement comes into effect June 1.
