Cape Forchu Lightstation To Open Soon After Filming Of Hollywood Movie

Work to dismantle a movie set at Cape Forchu in Yarmouth is ongoing.

Crews continue to take down the temporary structures used for the Hollywood film ‘The Lighthouse.’

That includes a mock lighthouse and several outer buildings.

Access to the Cape Forchu Lightstation and Leif Ericson Park has been off-limits to the public since late March.

The interim CAO of the Municipality of Yarmouth, Greg Shay, says a barricade will remain near the Lobster Pound Road until the set is fully taken down.

“It’s going to take a bit more, probably longer than anticipated to restore things. The target is May 18th, but that’s a soft target given potential weather conditions, but it should be pretty close to that, give or take.”

The crew is restoring the site to its pre-production state.

Shay encourages people to use the park once it opens, but to remember that the ground may be a bit tender for a while.

Final scenes for the film are being shot in Halifax

The film will star Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, and is directed by Robert Eggers.
