Residents of Cumberland South are heading to the polls this June.
Premier Stephen McNeil announced a by-election will be held on the nineteenth to fill the seat left vacant when former PC Leader Jaimie Baillie resigned his seat in January.

“We wanted to get the by-election before summer came so people could have their summers. We went through and made sure everyone had their nominations. We [the liberals] were the last ones to get nominated.”
Baillie won the seat with over 50 percent of the vote and the premier hopes his party can make inroads in the constituency this election.
“I think what they’ll be looking forward to, if they elect a liberal candidate, will be someone who sits around the liberal caucus table and talks about government policy and how we continue to move our province forward.”
McNeil says he wanted to get the election completed before people’s thoughts turn to summer.
