A derelict vessel in Shelburne County will soon make its way to the demolition line in Queens.
The MV Farley Mowat will be removed from the Shelburne waterfront on Wednesday morning at 7 a.m. by the Canadian Coast Guard.
They will begin towing the vessel to Port Mersey Commercial Park to be dismantled by R.J. MacIsaac Ltd.
Region of Queens Mayor David Dagley says he’s glad the company has brought the work to the county.
“They are providing a necessary service to recycle vessels that are nearing the end of their service life. Queens is also pleased to assist our neighboring community of Shelburne with a solution for the Farley Mowat.”
R.J MacIsaac Ltd. is under contract to also demolish three former naval vessels.
Dagley says the work at Port Mersey is important to help keep dozens of jobs in the area.
