Impaired Driver Charged After Arrest by Off-Duty Police Officers

Three off-duty police officers got more than they bargained for Wednesday during a visit to Queens County.

A Nova Scotia RCMP member along with an officer from Waterloo Regional Police Service and auxilliary constable from Toronto were at White Point Beach Resort when they noticed a moving vehicle with a driver that appeared to be unconscious.

One of them was able to put the vehicle in park and the three arrested the man.

An investigation determined the man was behind the wheel of a green Chevy Cavalier that was driving erratically on Highway 3 in Hunt’s Point and was involved in a hit and run near noon.

The vehicle then continued to the resort.

The 46 year-old man from Liverpool faces several motor vehicle-related charges including impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content in excess of 80 mg%, failing to remain at the scene of a collision, driving with a revoked license and driving without insurance.

He will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on September 13.
