Lunenburg Academy Looks For New Tenants

The search is on for new tenants for the Lunenburg Academy.

The Town of Lunenburg is currently negotiating with interested businesses and organizations.

However, Mayor Rachel Bailey said that doesn’t mean they won’t be looking for more to move into the iconic building.

“The call for proposals is closed. However, the Town as owner of the building is still open to offers for rooms because, as far as I know, the rooms are not all spoken for, so to speak,” said Bailey.

The heritage building is still undergoing major renovations which are behind schedule.

“Our priority right now is on the current tenants. The Lunenburg Academy For The Performing Arts still occupies space and will stay on as tenants along with Class Afloat. The library is also getting ready to move in to the building once renovations are completed.

“We’re very excited about that,” said Bailey, adding, “Class Afloat has moved to a new floor within the building and we’ve heard they’re very happy with the new space.”

Bailey said they likely won’t see any new tenants move in until some time in the new year.
