A group in England has been inspired by a woman in Queens county.
Tara Atkins made headlines when she and a group of young girls attached coats to telephone poles in Halifax for people in need.
Atkins says the leaders of the UK project reached out to her on Facebook.
“She and I have had conversations,” she says, ” and credited us with inspiring her to do the same thing.”
Atkins is also set to receive a Ripple Effect Award from the Region of Queens.
She says she’s happy to be recognized, but isn’t letting it go to her head.
