There will be another school year for students in Pentz and Petite Riviere.
The superintendent of the South Shore Regional School Board issuing a letter to parents that the elementary schools will stay open in 2016-17.
Board Chair and district representative, Jennifer Naugler, says it’s welcome news.
“There was some questions from the community with new students wanting to register for Primary about whether the schools would be open next year, so I’m pleased we have made a decision.”
The schools were targeted to close in 2013 but the board has five years to shut them down.
Naugler says it should bring comfort to parents wondering if the two schools would stay open.
